Martha is a weird looking meowstic who lives with Liam in an apartment in Friendship City. Their apartment always looks like they just moved in.

Even though Liam has a high school diploma, he is effectively Martha's dog.

Martha handles situations in conflict well.

BACKSTORY

Martha was born in California. In 2011, Martha and her family moved to Friendship City for a job offering.

Martha was abused by someone or something when she lived in California. This resulted in Martha being a bully in middle school and the first half of her high school later in Friendship City. After witnessing Liam getting bullied, Martha came to defend Liam. After that, Martha and Liam became best friends (and Liam became her pet because Liam was feral) and Martha stopped being a bully. But she was still mad. Mad at the world. It was her versus the world. All this anger bottled up. When she became an adult and rented her first apartment, she slowly learned to let go of her rage.

Martha used to be friends with Spanish, but they are now enemies. Since Martha liked Pineapples, Spanish named their and Sepitina's evil villain group The Pineapple Company because Spanish was filled with rage and it was an evil villain group. Evil villain group and rage. It was later renamed to Pineapple Company Mafia which is shortened to NecoMaf.

Martha used to have a crush on Lit. Martha once asked her out, but Lit rejected her. Martha has had an awkward relationship with Lit ever since.

DEVELOPMENT

2019

In late May, CoMo told CoJu to draw a meowstic on the whiteboard. CoJu drew a female meowstic from memory. It barely looked anything like a female meowstic. CoJu and CoMo decided to turn it into a character and named it Martha. CoMo told CoJu to also draw an eevee. CoJu drew an eevee from memory. This character became Liam, and Martha and Liam would become inseparable - most drawings of Martha would also include Liam.

In June, CISS19 was created, and Martha was added as an entry. CoJu often drew Martha with an angry expression - this is why the entry states that Martha's personality is angry. Most of Martha's lore comes from CISS19.

A drawing was made where Martha was blushing while looking at Lit. In January 2024, CoMo believed that it implies that Martha had a crush on Lit.

There are several drawings by CoMo that depict Martha and Liam being transit enthusiasts.

In August, drawings of Martha were made where she was happily holding a pineapple. In July 2022, Cobe Joumeaux believed that it implied that Martha liked Pineapples.

2020

For the entire year, Martha was the only Furry character that CoMo could draw.

2022

Shortly after CoMo and CoJu started drawing again and rediscovered Martha, CoMo established that Martha and Liam are no longer transit enthusiasts.

CoJu redrew Martha's family.

2023

While playing Tomodachi Life, CoJu made a Mii that represented Martha. CoJu asked CoMo 'what its last name is gonna be'. CoMo misheard "gonna be" as "Gunby", so CoMo replied with "Gunby". Ever since then, Martha's last name has been Gunby.

2024

On January 10, 2024, CoJu suggested that Martha be from California after CoMo mentioned the possibility of having another character from California. CoMo then made Martha from California on January 11, 2024. On the same day, he adapted information from her CISS19 entry to officially be part of Martha's backstory.
